The 1k Variac (variable auto-transformer) is a voltage lowering dimmer that provides smooth dimming from full-on to black out. Due to its design the 1k variac is an excellent tool for precision dimming of tungsten up to 1000 watts, but is not recommended for use with LEDs or other electronic devices.
