Stinger (20-Amp Edison) Electrical Cable

Product may vary from photo, depending on customer selection and availability.

Stinger (20-Amp Edison) Electrical Cable

Stingers, also called leads, power cords, extension cords, or extension cables, are available to rent in a variety of lengths, measured in feet.

All of our stingers have Edison ends (also called NEMA 5-15P and NEMA 5-15R), and are 12-gauge (#12 AWG)  3-conductor SJOW cable, designed for durability and flexibility, even in freezing temperatures. They are designed to work with the most common US household power outlets and many generators.

For electrical safety, we recommend using extension cords/stingers only for temporary use, and with the following distance/amperage limits:

Recommended Maximum
for 12 AWG Cables
up to 50 ft20A
up to 100 ft15A
up to 150 ft10A

We do not advise using standard stingers/extension cords for distances over 150 feet, due to voltage drop. For longer runs and more complex and powerful distribution needs, we carry a complete line of power distribution cables and equipment with Camlok and Bates connectors. Red Star rents electrical cabling for every type of event and film set.
